Food walks within the Nizamuddin Basti

Delhi has a connection to street food that dates back hundreds of years back in the past. From the streets that lead to Chandni Chowk to Hauz Khas’s streets, India’s capital city is a perfect home for foodies. There’s a widespread belief that Purani Dilli has the finest selection of street food. But, just from the streets in Old Delhi lies a more spacious lane that’s not as crowded and noisy every moment. It’s Hazrat Nizamuddin. It’s home to the well-known Nizamuddin Dargah, where you will find peace forever. In addition, Nizamuddin is also popular because of its significance to Mughlai architecture and food, which several Bollywood films were shot here. The area is illuminated every Thursday night with qawwalis, and music that can bring you an unforgettable experience.

Why Is Nizamuddin Known For A Heritage cum Food Walk?

The streets of Nizamuddin bring together the taste and legacy, and it is the historical taste that has been offered here for centuries. The medieval settlement of Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah (village of Nizamuddin’s shrine) is named after Sheik Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya (1236-1325), whose grave and hospice are located here and which is a vibrant repository of his love and compassion.

The interior and exterior settings are far from what one associates with the saint’s austere. Fluted marble columns support cusped arches with gold, pink, and green flower designs at the tomb’s entrance.

This location is unique in that it allows you to not only discover historical and ancient food joints but also to enjoy the food while learning about the tradition and culture while sampling some of the world’s most famous delicacies.

The vast side rooms feature sparkling white interiors, while the dome interiors contain magnificent etched plasterwork medallions in red, green, yellow, and blue colors. Tourists are invited to take a break from their travel and relax in the mosque’s tranquil, shaded interior, which is framed by three modest domes half-hidden above the roof. The women sit in the side chambers while the men explore the tombs and mosque.

There’s a good chance you’ll never come across these two deadly combinations of cuisine and culture, and these two things together can make your stroll to Hazrat Nizamuddin a success, and you’ll definitely want to repeat the experience.

It’s time you have a look at what to indulge in! Read on.
